Metro Outing Guide
The purpose of the Metro Atlanta Winnies is to provide an opportunity for persons having the common bond of owning Winnebago products to get together, have fun and fellowship with each other. The primary method of accomplishing this goal is through monthly campouts or “outings”. One of the best ways to enjoy the club fully is to serve as a volunteer “host” for a weekend outing. This can be done as one person, a couple or multiple couples.
The following is provided as a guide to those serving as a host:
The most important job as host is to select a campground for everyone to meet. You will make arrangements with the campground, letting them know you represent the Metro Atlanta Winnies Club. Typically, you will advise the campground of the number of expected coaches; confirm the nightly rate and advise the Club how to register. The Club recommends that each coach be responsible for making their reservation directly with the designated campground.
The host will determine how we will handle the meals. Generally, this is Friday night, Saturday (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and Sunday morning. This can be as simple as selecting a restaurant or a covered dish, a hot dog cookout or “on your own”. If we choose to cook, the Club will reimburse the host for expenses once the original receipts are turned in to the club Treasurer. This is generally anywhere from $25 to $50, depending on the size of the group.
The host can plan the weekend activities for the Club or can have the schedule be “on your own”. It is a good idea to have a written “Agenda” for the weekend which can be passed out to everyone attending when they arrive or if you plan on having the attendees provide a covered dish, etc. it is a better idea to send the agenda to everyone attending via e-mail the week before the outing.
The host will advise the President (or his designee) of plans for upcoming outings. It is critical that the campground be identified so it can be listed in the national WIT News magazine.
Again, serving as host can be very rewarding and fun. If you have any questions concerning the role, please ask any officer or member. |
